The sleeping accommodation is flexible (two of the bedrooms have zip and link super king beds) making it ideal for different combinations of guests.

The delightful well equipped kitchen leads to a dining room with stunning countryside views and there are two further ground floor living rooms and an upstairs games room.

The Oaks knows how to have fun too! The lovely enclosed garden of approximately two acres has two large patios facing west and south with teak outdoor furniture, a barbecue and fire bowl for cooking and camp fires! With stunning views over the Shropshire hills, it's the perfect social spot for alfresco dining. Pop a cork and prepare to laugh loud and long with friends or family. There’s no one to disturb here - the gardens and grounds are completely private.

Or add a bit of extra sparkle to your stay and hire a hot tub to soak up the peace (and your tired muscles) and toast the views of the hills beyond. Thoughtful little extras including Bramley smellies and a well stocked welcome hamper, add a special touch to your break. If you prefer a little pampering, you can arrange a personal chef and a visit from an Organic Spa Treatment Service.

In a tranquil position between the beautiful Long Mynd Hills to the west and the Caradoc and Lawley Hills to the east, the spacious property is situated in the small rural hamlet of Inwood, two miles from the delightful market town of Church Stretton.

The Shropshire Hills provide excellent walking, strolling and bird watching for everybody what ever the time of year. From gentle walks in the valleys besides the streams to more strenuous hikes for the more serious rambler or cyclists. Numerous walks and mountain bike rides start from the front gate, which leads directly onto Long Mynd’s 5,000 acres of heather-covered Moorland owned by the National Trust.

Church Stretton at the heart of the Long Mynd, is set amid striking scenery and is often described as “Little Switzerland”. It boasts a large Co-op, a variety of tea rooms, pubs, specialist shops, a large antique centre and a challenging golf course on the top of the Long Mynd. Local country pubs in the surrounding villages also provide excellent bar and evening meals.

This part of Shropshire is not only a haven for walkers and is fit to bursting with things see and do. The Oaks' central location makes it within easy reach of the beautiful traditional market towns, including gourmet Ludlow and Shrewsbury. The famous Ironbridge Gorge Museums, Much Wenlock and Bridgnorth with the famous Severn Valley railway are all easily accessible. Not forgetting the Acton Scott Historic Working Farm, and a host of National Trust and English Heritage properties including Attingham House and Park and Stokesay Castle.

Plus a packed schedule of year round events. For the winter months, check out the sleigh full of festive activities at Attingham Park; or in Spring and Autumn catch one of Ludlow’s famous foodie festivals in May and September.

The only downside coming to an amazing house like this is having to go home!

"Beautiful house, fantastic location. Host was responsive. Hot tub service was great. Only minor fault is lack of TV in the main lounge - as a group of 10 we wanted to watch a movie together and the snug (whilst lovely) wasnt big enough for all of us. The bedrooms are all a great size, and superb bathrooms. Aga is a great addition to the kitchen and so warm! Loved the light and airy eating area. Walks straight from the house were beautiful. We had a fab meal at Housemans in town - tapas! Thank you so much, we loved our stay at The Oaks." Airbnb

"We have definitely stumbled across a little (not in scale) gem of a place with 'The Oaks'. The views and the giant skies (especially at night) were a real treat and a much needed relax was had by all! Our daughter had an amazing time exploring, playing and running wild in the garden which we were especially thankful for at bedtime! All in all a good place for the extended family to unwind, but with some time to celebrate a big anniversary! Thanks for everything! The full Harper clan"

The house catered for all our needs and is equipped really well with kitchen equipment and entertainment options (books, dvds, cable, games room etc). 2021-10-11 Nikki B, Preston

"What a wonderful find! The Oaks was everything we could hope for and more, for a relaxing long weekend with friends. I was congratulated on numerous occasions on having found the property and how marvellous it was! Amazing setting with the extensive views, the peace and quiet only disturbed by the occasional horse rider or mountain biker coming off the Mynd. The house was extremely well equipped as we catered for ourselves, we even had a go at using the AGA! Lovely bedrooms, comfy and beautifully furnished as was the rest of the house. It certainly didn’t feel like a holiday rental more like someone’s tastefully furnished home. Definitely want to return!"

2021-10-08 Paulin R, France

"The location of this house is outstanding and it’s well equipped and a great place to stay as a larger group."

2021-09-26 Rachel L, England

"Great location and a great place to stay with the whole family!!"

2021-09-24 Sue J, Worthing

"We could not find fault with The Oaks. What a stunning house - spacious, clean, beautifully decorated and with views to die for. Eight life long friends had plenty of space to live, love and laugh together and the hot tub recommendation was both great value and well used. We will definitely be back and hopefully next time the recycling will be sorted as we felt very uncomfortable throwing it all in one bin."

2021-09-18 Tony M, England

"Great location, nature on your doorstep, a challenging golf course with awesome views and very useful shops nearby. Can’t go wrong! We loved the layout, location, privacy and serenity of this house. Very pleased we could add a hot tub as well. We would happily rent the property again."

"Beautiful house and location, perfect for a group of 7, would highly recommend!"

2021-07-31 Shirleyann H, Wirral

"Fabulous views, massive house, great garden. The only problem with this property is it was so nice we hardly left it, we felt so relaxed and comfortable we only ventured out a few times. We had a large group of kids who loved the swings in the garden, they enjoyed it. The views are spectacular and the walks from the house were lovely."

2021-06-28 Peter B, Solihull

"This was the ideal house in a beautiful setting for our overdue family holiday. There was ample room for a large family both indoors and outside. The weather was kind to us but had it not been the games room and TV facility would have kept the family entertained. Charles at Staycation could not have been more helpful and professional. We’ll definitely use the company again."

2021-06-25 June B, Birmingham

"The perfect break in beautiful surroundings. This is our first visit to the Oaks - we intend that it should not be our last!"

2021-06-19 Terry, Pam, Ron & Elaine, Canvey Island & Coggeshall

"At last our holiday has arrived, just 12 months later than expected! It was certainly worth the wait though. A lovely house in a spectacular setting. There are some amazing walks right on the doorstep with friendly sheep and wild horses to keep you company. We have been kept busy with plenty of places to visit and the weather was perfect."

"This is the second time we have stayed at The Oaks and we loved it even more this time! We enjoyed the stunning views and the amazing walks from the gate onto the National Trust Long Mynd estate with our dog. The house was lovely and warm inside, and outside we spent hours around the firepit making smores and catching up on news. For leisure, we had the snooker on the TV, card games in the conservatory, runs from the front door, a scavenger hunt and quiz. Topped off by big meals cooked on the AGA and take outs from Ludlow Brewery. Perfick."

We will be back!! Hopefully we will have a dog by then too!

"What a fabulous house to spend a week in! We loved the walks to Caer Caradoc, the Long Mynd and the Stiperstones - and the tea rooms in Church Stretton were excellent (especially the chocolate cake in Jemima's kitchen). The landscape is truly magnificent - we all enjoyed ourselves so much. As a first time visitor to Shropshire, I've fallen for the landscape - especially being able to walk out from the house, and then return back to watch the weather by the fire. Thank you so much."

2017-05-25 Lynams, Hookes, Rickers, Coopers & Howells - Nottingham area

”5 couples have enjoyed a fabulous few days in this beautiful spacious house. Perfect location for walks from the house. We all agree that it’s the best house we’ve stayed in the 5 years of annual mini-breaks together. Very well equipped, comfortable beds, a home from home. Thank you.”

2017-04-14 C Summers

”We had a lovely weekend in Shropshire booked through yourselves, thank you. The booking process was very straightforward and both Charles and Lin were extremely helpful. The break was with my extended family and they all asked where I made the booking as they were so impressed, I recommended Staycation to them and would do to others and use them again. It was a great help to be able to contact them at any time in the lead up and get a prompt reply. The welcome pack was super, I may have missed details of it on the website as it would have been useful to know the contents – e.g. we ended up with a surplus of butter as I had taken supplies! Thanks for a super break, I shall treasure the memories of a wonderful time”

2016-10-14 Three families from Holmforth, Harrogate & Hampstead

”We have loved staying in this beautiful house for our family celebrations. We have been comfortable and warm in the spacious surroundings and have all loved the garden – especially the swing – with its superb views. Access to your walking country literally by the front gate has been an added bonus. Thank you.”

2016-08-11 Three families from St Albans, Merseyside & Windsor

”Wonderful location; the children certainly enjoyed the space of the garden, especially the ‘big’ swing! Three generations celebrating our Golden Anniversary, we had plenty of room for everyone to enjoy their activities. A great week!”

2016-07-15 Mrs Bennett

”Our party of ten had a wonderful relaxed holiday. The house was beautiful, immaculately presented with wonderful views. The surrounding area did not fail to impress us with stunning scenery and the local town very close by had everything one might need. Would recommend this house to anyone.”

Things you need to know about The Oaks if you’re thinking of booking a holiday there:

  • Smoking is not allowed inside any of our properties
  • * One well behaved dog by special arrangement only. Please contact us on 01242 300 8332. Your pet is allowed in restricted areas including the hall, utility room, kitchen and dining room. Sorry, we cannot allow your dog upstairs or past the door leading to the snug and lounge on the ground floor. Your pet is £35/stay.
  • * Luxury hot tub available – please request on booking (additional fee per stay applies, to be paid separately). The local company, Shrewsbury Hot Tub company, handles the complete process from guest booking to installation and on-line safety briefing documents etc. They will also collect payment and provide a advice hotline if required. A standard circular tub (for 5/6 people) is approximately £215 for a weekend (installed on a Thursday and removed the following Tuesday). Weekly hire is also available and very cost effective. There are various sizes available and are subject to availability, especially during busy holiday periods. Please contact Martin at the Shrewsbury Hot Tub company on 07989 036708.
  • Please bring your own hot tub towels if you are hiring one.
  • The AGA runs all year at the Oaks. During exceptional hot summer spells (which are difficult to predict more than a couple of days in advance!) the kitchen can feel uncomfortable hot during the day. The best way to deal with this is to open doors and windows to give a cross flow of air. The house is situated on an open hill side and even on summer evenings the AGA can give a pleasant background warmth. Whilst the house has a Neff electric hob, double oven and microwave the AGA gives increased cooking capacity and a 'special cooking' experience. So, due to these considerations the AGA will be alight when you arrive at the Oaks unless you advise us otherwise.
  • There is a refundable security deposit of £500
  • * The welcome hamper contains tea, ground coffee, wine, cereal, orange juice, butter, milk, cheese, eggs, marmalade, bread, cake, biscuits, oranges, apples, bananas
  • Catering service provided by Batchcott & Waller. Three course local dinner or fridge & freezer options.http://www.batchcottandwaller.com email: batchcottandwaller@gmail.com phone: 07951 757 922 / 07884 584 690
