"Great location for exploring the Peak District and Bakewell. Loved the pool which was very warm and perfect for rainy days." (John stayed at Buttercup Down)
"We had a fantastic stay at Buttercup Down with our family including toddler and dog. The cottage was perfect and the biggest bonus of the place was the lovely little pool which was lots of fun. The place is well looked after and the hosts were really friendly and welcoming. The site is well secure and feels private. The cottage itself is well set up and in keeping with the area. It mostly had everything we needed (a few extra kitchen utensils would be great). The location of this stay was perfect being so close to Bakewell and short drives to fantastic walks/views/attractions (Chatsworth House, Padley Gorge, Chee Dale). We also enjoyed the Tagg Lane dairy ice cream and the Bull’s Head in Moynash which has a lovely play park next to the pub garden. Great if you have kids. We had a great stay and would definitely return. Thank you." (Georgina stayed at Buttercup Down)
"Our stay at Staycation cottages in Bakewell was lovely. the Love Nest Lodge was very quaint and well equipped. The bathroom was especially laid out nicely. I enjoyed the access to the football playing area, pool area and the swimming pool. We used the bbq area once and made full use of the boot room for leaflets and information for our stay. Would definitely return back." (David stayed at Love Nest)
"Many thanks for your help, Charles – we loved it and the boys had a great time in the pool (we also used the football pitch every day!) The property and complex is fantastic and I have recommended it to my family group that we should try and book several of the properties in one go and attend as a group." (Dan stayed at Buttercup Down)
"Beautiful cottage ideally located for walks and getting to the nearby town of Bakewell. Excellent on-site facilities for the kids and adults with plenty of private outdoor space to relax and enjoy a bbq in the sun. The on-site team when there were excellent and welcoming. We had a wonderful week and would definitely recommend and stay again to explore more of the Peak District." (Bill stayed at Buttercup Down)
"Lovely stay. Everything you needed. Very responsive when we at first couldn’t work the cooker and sent someone straight round to help us fix. Was a 5 minute drive into Bakewell where there was plenty of pubs, restaurants and shops. A good location if your exploring the Peak District, we did lots of walks! Would definitely recommend staying." (Poppy stayed at Love Nest)
"Spacious, clean and well provided. Great to have the pool and ping pong with the dreadful weather that we had. Would like to go back and be able to cycle and walk more. Family gathering with other adults and the young children with us in the Farmhouse. Great fossils to be found in the local dale." (Sue rented Love Nest and Haddon Grove Farmhouse)
"One of the prettiest little cottages we have stayed in near Bakewell. Warm and cosy with everything you need for self catering, blender for baby food, good coffee cafetière, clean oven and pans and the essential bottle opener! Excellent hairdryer and bed linen, towels and pillows worthy of boutique hotel. The warm swimming pool and changing rooms were the icing on the cake with an excellent games room and handy boot room filled with books, videos highchair and extra handy things. Will definitely be heading back. There’s a nice mix of different size properties so will be tempted to go back with family groups and share the beautiful views. Loads to do for all ages in the surrounding area which was our only problem - we needed more time there."
"Lovely surroundings and great to get lost and for walks. Calm and nice to rest and visit. Friendly people on site." (Beatrice stayed at Bramble)
"We had an amazing stay at our Bakewell home from home, Sally, Mark and Becky couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. From giving extra towels to sharing local walks and eating establishments to sorting out my mistake they were all brilliant and couldn't have been friendlier. The farmhouse itself was lovely - the kitchen was a lovely space and was very well equipped. The lounge was cosy and the beds were so comfortable. The facilities were amazing - the pool was lovely and clean and the pool table and ping pong were a great addition. It was too cold when we were there to enjoy the grounds but they were fabulous. I would highly recommend." (Jeff stayed at Haddon Grove Farmhouse)

Just time to catch up; to swim in the gorgeously warm pool, play board games in the wonderfully snug living area; walk Lathkill Dale (both ways!); visit Bakewell and stock up on puddings; and sleep like kings and queens in the wonderfully comfy beds. We ate out one night at the Packhorse Inn in Little Longstone, lovely place, staff and food - highly recommend." (Lin and her siblings stayed at Bramble)
"Beautiful location, spotless well equipped house and swimming pool to top it off. We had a fabulous stay. We absolutely loved this place! We were a group of friends (with kids) and it was perfect. "Excellent stay thank you! Lovely place, great facilities, 5 minute drive to Bakewell. It’s on the main road, not the side road that the day nav takes you. The grounds were beautiful. I didn’t need to have communication with the company as everything worked." (stayed at Love Nest)
"We (4 women in our 20s) stayed at Fruitpip for a 5 weekday retreat - it was a delight! Beautiful landscape and surroundings, lovely furnished & decorated cottage with the most comfortable beds i’ve slept in. Hard to leave them in the mornings! We made good use of the swimming pool & enjoyed reading on the benches in the evening sun. Thank you for a beautiful stay!"
"Brilliant place to stay. All amenities you need to live comfortably. Great range of activities for all ages."
"Beautiful cottage in stunning Derbyshire countryside. Adequate facilities that provides a good base to explore surrounding area." (stayed at Slipper Lo)
"This was the perfect location for our family of 4. The indoor pool and outdoor play area were a hit with the kids. The cottage was super cozy and spacious with everything we could need. The views and location were amazing...just a short distance from Bakewell and Chatsworth. Great for outdoors like hiking and biking. Was a very relaxing holiday and just what we were looking for."
"A lovely comfortable cottage, with access to a swimming pool, a short walk down to Lathkill Dale for walkers, and a short drive to Bakewell. What more could we want! We were four women friends, and all of us thought we'd come again, perhaps with family groups as there are (I think) 8 cottages of various sizes on the site. The weather wasn't great, but it didn't matter in such a lovely place." (Robina stayed at Cuckoo)
"Fruitpip was a very comfortable cottage providing us with easy access to Bakewell, Chatsworth and the wonderful Lathkill Dale. It was the perfect location to base all the walks from Haddon Farm. Despite initial teething trouble in using the induction oven ( quick learning ), the kitchen was adequately equipped for the two of us. After a long walk each day, the power shower in the bathroom was just perfect. And of course there was the heated pool, again a pleasant addition to relax the tired muscles after a long walk. We loved our stay at Fruitpip and will recommend it to anybody looking for a nice cottage in a pleasant and peaceful surrounding. And not to forget the very helpful staff. Thank you."
"We were a party of 10 adults and two kids so took the Farmhouse and one of the smaller cottages at Haddon Grove for a week in September 2020. The cottages were so well equipped and immaculately clean. The bedrooms were all charming and the social rooms very spacious. We also found it very family friendly with cots and high chairs provided ( for a small fee) and the play area, wendy house and swimming pool on site. With COVID regulations the swimming pool was booked one family at a time in one hour slots and we were really impressed with the measures they had put in place to make it safe. The staff onsite, especially Mark, were incredibly friendly and helpful. Mark sorted out a couple of problems we had with the kitchen tap and a plumbing issue straight away. We didn’t meet the owners, but it would have been nice to as we’d dealt with them during the booking phase. We also loved the location as it’s a great base for Bakewell, Matlock, Chatsworth House and lots of lovely walks, one of which can be done straight from the cottages. As we were a big group we used local caterers, Scoff, for two of our meals, including a fantastic BBQ pack which we were then able to cook in the grounds of Haddon Grove. We also hired a private chef - Chris the Chef - for one night and his cooking was sensational and highly recommended. The Farmhouse kitchen was perfect for him to prepare and serve the dinner. We also tried the pies offered on the Haddon Grove website and they were delicious and ideal for our first nights stay. All in all it was a wonderful week and we can’t wait to return to Haddon Grove."
"This is a very well situated group of cottages. They are close to lots of lovely places. The ground and pool are good fun."
