2023-08-11 Georgina A, Swindon

"We had a fantastic stay at Buttercup Down with our dog. The cottage was perfect and the biggest bonus of the place was the lovely little pool which was lots of fun. The place is well looked after and the hosts were really friendly and welcoming. The site is well secure and feels private. The cottage itself is well set up and in keeping with the area. It mostly had everything we needed (a few extra kitchen utensils would be great). The location of this stay was perfect being so close to Bakewell and short drives to fantastic walks/views/attractions (Chatsworth House, Padley Gorge, Chee Dale). We also enjoyed the Tagg Lane dairy ice cream and the Bull’s Head in Moynash which has a lovely play park next to the pub garden. We had a great stay and would definitely return. Thank you." (Georgina stayed at Buttercup Down)

"One of the prettiest little cottages we have stayed in near Bakewell. Warm and cosy with everything you need for self catering, blender for baby food, good coffee cafetière, clean oven and pans and the essential bottle opener! Excellent hairdryer and bed linen, towels and pillows worthy of boutique hotel. The warm swimming pool and changing rooms were the icing on the cake with an excellent games room and handy boot room filled with books, videos highchair and extra handy things. Will definitely be heading back. There’s a nice mix of different size properties so will be tempted to go back with family groups and share the beautiful views. The farmhouse itself was lovely - the kitchen was a lovely space and was very well equipped. The lounge was cosy and the beds were so comfortable. We were four women friends, and all of us thought we'd come again, perhaps with family groups as there are (I think) 8 cottages of various sizes on the site. The weather wasn't great, but it didn't matter in such a lovely place." (Robina stayed at Cuckoo)

2020-10-12 Lydia (Tripadvisor)

"We were a party of 10 adults and two kids so took the Farmhouse and one of the smaller cottages at Haddon Grove for a week in September 2020. The cottages were so well equipped and immaculately clean. The bedrooms were all charming and the social rooms very spacious. We also found it very family friendly with cots and high chairs provided ( for a small fee) and the play area, wendy house and swimming pool on site. With COVID regulations the swimming pool was booked one family at a time in one hour slots and we were really impressed with the measures they had put in place to make it safe. The staff onsite, especially Mark, were incredibly friendly and helpful. Mark sorted out a couple of problems we had with the kitchen tap and a plumbing issue straight away. We didn’t meet the owners, but it would have been nice to as we’d dealt with them during the booking phase. We also loved the location as it’s a great base for Bakewell, Matlock, Chatsworth House and lots of lovely walks, one of which can be done straight from the cottages. As we were a big group we used local caterers, Scoff, for two of our meals, including a fantastic BBQ pack which we were then able to cook in the grounds of Haddon Grove. We also hired a private chef - Chris the Chef - for one night and his cooking was sensational and highly recommended. The Farmhouse kitchen was perfect for him to prepare and serve the dinner. We also tried the pies offered on the Haddon Grove website and they were delicious and ideal for our first nights stay. All in all it was a wonderful week and we can’t wait to return to Haddon Grove."

2020-09-07 T Parker, London

"This is a very well situated group of cottages. They are close to lots of lovely places. The ground and pool are good fun."
