Nothing says holidays like a hot tub. After dinner’s done and the night is but young, fire up the bubbles and watch the panoramic view of the sun setting over the lake from your private secure deck. This is just one of the magical moments you can experience whilst staying at Lapwing Lake Lodge.

Perched on the water’s edge, Lapwing Lake Lodge is a chic New England-style retreat with plenty of room for six plus pooch. The pretty clapper board-style exterior and fantastic water-front setting make a brilliant first impression. The convenience of the location within steps of a family-friendly lakeside bar, brasserie, gym and a great children’s play area come a close second.

Located on Spring Lake, our lake house has prime position in the Cotswold Water Park, one of the best kept secrets of Gloucestershire! One of 150 lakes in an area the size of Jersey, there’s so much to explore and something for everyone. Wildlife, water sports, activities, great eateries, walking, history and culture are just some of the things you will find nearby.

The lake house itself has been stylishly renovated to mirror its setting, offering super views from inside and out. Downstairs, it’s fully open plan complemented by stunning bi-folding doors opening onto your own lake view private deck. Providing the perfect spot for sizzling steaks on the barbecue or simply sitting back to enjoy lakeside life while your own hot tub bubbles invitingly.

Upstairs there is a large master bedroom with a 5' bed and full length window overlooking the lake, allowing you the same stunning views. There are two further twin/double bedrooms with 5' zip and link beds and a family bathroom. Extra care has been taken for families, and you will find lots of special touches around the house if you are planning on taking the little ones.

The light bright interiors with family-friendly luxuries are added bonuses, whilst the fact that there’s a golf course, water sports centre, bike hire and routes, plus a choice of restaurants and pubs, within a short, scenic walk really sets it apart. Although, for most young families, the fact that the UK’s largest inland beach with a purpose built toddler paddling and playground area is within a 10-15 minute stroll is the icing on the cake.

Fire the Heart Retreats, situated on the Landings nearby, offers guests in-house rejuvenation therapies and treatments. Alternatively, treat yourself to private treatments and pampering at the house from Glo Pamper. A personal chef can also be arranged if required.

If you can tear yourselves away, Lapwing Lake Lodge is ideally situated too for exploring the towns and villages of the beautiful Cotswolds region. The well-known quintessential English villages of Stow-on-the-Wold, Bibury, Bourton-on-the-Water, and Moreton-in-the-Marsh, are all within easy reach and make a great day out.

Cirencester known as ‘The Capital of the Cotswolds’, is 4 miles away, giving easy access to excellent shopping, restaurants, entertainment, ancient buildings and museums. Cheltenham (20 miles), the most complete regency town in England, is famous for its horse-racing festival in March, culminating in the Gold Cup steeplechase. At other times of year, Cheltenham hosts Festivals of Jazz, Classical Music, Science, Literature, Food & Drink.

Highgrove House, one of the homes of Prince Charles, is less than half an hour’s drive as is Westonbirt Arboretum, with its stunning new treetop walkway, the longest in the UK.

Appealing to children in particular, the nearby Cotswold Wildlife Park, the numerous attractions at Bourton-on-the-Water, and Cotswold Farm Park provide plentiful entertainment.

The cities of Bath, Bristol, Cheltenham and Oxford are all under an hour’s drive away.

Located just over an hour from London, it’s the ideal place for families or a group of friends to spend time together at any time of the year. And, for larger groups of up to 36 guests, Lapwing Lake Lodge can be booked with our other Spring Lake houses, as they are all within 200 yards of each other.

2019-06-29 L Mungovan, Washington, USA (Trustpilot)

"The lodge is beautifully situated right on the lake and almost next to the activity centre/restaurant. Downstairs opens up to the decking with huge bifold doors, to maximise the fantastic daylight. The star is definitely the hot tub, which we relaxed in every day - what a luxury! Three bedrooms upstairs, although the only room that has any decent storage is the master, but it didn’t matter to us as we were only two in the house. The kitchen is very well equipped and the whole house has a very high-end finish (although we noticed some possible water damage/warping on the floor under one of the sofas). The downstairs area could also do with some kind of blind to keep out the late afternoon sun, as it comes directly into the room and it gets very hot. That’s my only suggestion for improvement, we had an absolutely spectacular stay. The nearby village of South Cerney is also a lovely place to walk, as is the town of Cirencester and the various disused canals and National Trust properties."

2019-06-14 H Sandher, Luton

"Place was lovely with everything you need. Hot tub was amazing and could not complain about anything. View is lovely as well. We are already planning our next trip with friends!"

2019-05-27 Z Osborne, England

"The house is fantastic. We stayed for a long weekend with two couples and a toddler and it was the perfect location. Relaxing location the house was safe for the toddler and the hot tub to sit and watch the sunset over the lake was amazing- will be returning again soon!! BBQ and kitchen was great- could not recommend this house more for a relaxing break."

2019-05-24 DennyL (Trustpilot)

"Lovely place, house had everything you needed. Stunning position overlooking lake, hot tub was great, and weather was perfect. Great big gas barbeque-American style, outdoor table, seating and umbrella. The owner Kevin was great, nothing too much trouble, nice fresh baguette, butter and milk on arrival left by Kevin. Area was stunning, lovely walks all over connecting different lakes, village short walk. The brasserie/gym was a stones throw from the house - we only had coffee there and sat on the terrace, nice place and views over lake. Lots of places of interest out and about, most places dog friendly too. Kevin recommended places to visit, eat etc. and lots of leaflets/guides in the house. We had a great week there and having use of the hot tub with such a view over lake and watching the water skiing activities was an added bonus."

2019-05-24 D Littler, Staffs

"The house was lovely, clean spacious and overlooking the lake, full sun on decked area with a great hot tub in which beautiful views over the lake could be enjoyed whilst chilling in it. The lake we were on was used for water ski ing so that was a joy to watch too. A great big gas barbecue was very handy as we had perfect weather for it, patio table and chairs and umbrella outside too. The host had brought us butter, a very welcome baguette and some milk. Plenty of indoor furniture and well stocked with crockery, kitchen accesories, condiments etc, home from home with dishwasher, washer/dryer etc. Beds very comfortable and nice cotton bedding, all towels provided and hand soap. Had a great stay here and weather was perfect for the week so it was great to be able to sit out chill and use hot tub in the evening. The host was very nice and made us very welcome and nothing was too much trouble if we needed anything or any information. A great spot as brasserie and gym a stone's throw from house. Lovely walks and routes all round the parks and close to village. Highly recommend."

2019-05-12 C Hatcher, London

"Couldn't have wanted more form the property. A fully functioning hot tub was the main attraction, it was amazing and we had plenty of use of it! Fresh eggs, bread, milk and ice lollies were awaiting our arrival which was a wonderful addition. A variety of water sports and activities are a stones throw away from the front door. Couldn't recccomend enough and will definitely be back!"

2019-02-24 K Dutt, London

"Brilliant place for a weekend break. Loved the hot tub setup and we spent a lot of time there. No matter how the weather is, as long as it’s not raining I’m sure this place will be a solid place away from everyday life. There are some local pubs around as well for a quick drink and food."

2019-02-01 Jean-Paul Dewhurst, England

"Extremely friendly and helpful host. Always available for assistance. Property was as nice as the photos. Great area for a family get away. Jacuzzi was especially nice while watching the sun set."

2018-10-28 A Curry, Bournemouth

"Fantastic views and great place to chill and relax. Close to Lakeside Brasserie which was ideal to eat and ideal for the gym bunnies in our group!! Kevin was brilliant. Gave advice where to eat locally and was on hand if needed. Love the hot tub!!"

2018-10-22 H Noble, Buckinghamshire

"The lake house was wonderful, spacious and very clean. The welcome pack of bread, butter, eggs and milk was a nice touch. The bed sheets were very soft. The views were beautiful and the hot tub was a great extra. We loved the heated floor, perfect for cold feet! We had great fun on the lake inflatable activities - big adrenaline buzz! Charles at Staycation and Kevin the owner were very attentive and helpful - great communication! Our only complaint would be that the springs in the bed in the smallest room made it quite uncomfortable. We had an absolutely amazing time at Spring Lake! Thank you so much for having us!"

2018-10-10 A Brookes, Hilton, UK

"Great place to stay lovely view on the terrace with a beautiful autumn sunset, nice touch as well with some milk butter and a fresh baguette on arrival, host came past and introduced himself in person which was also a good touch. Would use again 10/10!"

2018-09-23 J Davies, Broadstairs

"Charles was an excellent host, answered all questions very quickly. Loved the hot tub! When we arrived, we were greeted with a fresh baguette, milk and butter - a lovely touch. Thank you for a great stay!!"

2018-07-27 G Bettens, Antwerp

"We're a Belgian family of 6, and we couldn't be more pleased to have chosen Staycation for our first UK holiday. All questions we had were answered the same or the next day, and the houses we stayed at were even nicer than advertised."

2018-07-09 L Gough, UK

"Location and hot tub looking out onto such a beautiful view were fabulous."

2018-07-02 M Darlow, Yorkshire

"We stayed here for a week in June when the weather was perfect. We arrived and were amazed by the house; the views are incredible and the house was equipped with every thing we could have needed. There was a cot and high chair provided along with a tonne of children’s toys for my granddaughter. The rooms were clean and there is more than enough space for storage. The house itself couldn’t be better. The hot tub is the perfect touch as is the BBQ. The small beach next to the house is great for paddling and for dogs. The bar next to the house is also nice for a drink, although expensive, and offers water sports which we didn’t get chance to try - book in advance if you wish to use them. Kevin the owner is lovely, he sorted everything out for us - we needed some fans as it was so hot that week and was quick to respond to any requests. He also gave us some excellent recommendation for pubs, villages and things to do around the area. I would definitely recommend the Country Park and Beach, especially with kids, along with Cirencester itself and Bourton on the Water. All in all we had an amazing week as a family and are thinking about returning!"

2018-03-12 G Morgan, Birmingham

"We had a lovely stay at the lake house, we were two couples with a 15 month and 6 month baby. The house had all the facilities we needed including children's toys. A very thoughtful touch. The lake house was great, just as the photos with a lovely view over the lake. Our toddler loved the ducks, birds and swans which came to see us every morning at the bottom of the deck. The hot tub on the deck was a great addition, we were able to enjoy it every night once the children were asleep. There are lots of walks locally which we enjoyed, the adventure playground opposite was perfect too. We would love to return, hopefully in the summer and would make use of the BBQ."

2017-09-08 Hasib A, Saudi Arabia

”I like a place and host is good and helpful fast Thanks”

2017-06-16 C Piggott, London

”We absolutely loved our stay at the lake house! My husband, our small dog and I stayed over a weekend and really enjoyed it. The house itself was beautifully furnished, the bed was super comfortable and the kitchen has everything you needed to make a meal. We made full use of the hot tub and the BBQ on the terrace too, both really easy to set up with no fuss. Our host Charlie met us on arrival to show us around the house which was much appreciated. I can’t recommend the place enough, the only downside was having to leave!”

DAYS IN

For our top 10 reasons why the Cotswold Water Park is a great place for a family holiday, click here.

Along with its lakeside setting one of the house’s greatest assets is the amount that there is to see and do nearby for families and young children.

Within a minute’s stroll is the Lakeside Brassiere which boasts a family friendly sports bar, a relaxed family restaurant with a sun terrace overlooking the lake.

A fully air conditioned gym is located above the brasserie with a range of equipment. Should you be staying for a prolonged period a monthly membership can be purchased, but the gym also offers a highly reasonable single use fee option.

Within 50 metres of the lodge is a large children’s play area with climbing frame, monkey bars and fireman pole.

Lakeside Ski & Wake offer wakeboard and waterski lessons on the lake, plus sessions as well as fun rides for all the family on their ringos and other inflatables. These all prove irresistible to most families in the summer months, not least since thanks to a special skimmer board. From beginners to experts, everyone is welcome.

Next to the house is a small shingle beach area popular with the little ones for paddling. From the deck you can feed swans and ducks that are very friendly, but far enough away to stop little ones from feeling intimidated.

About a 5 minutes’ walk away, there’s a cable ski and a buzzing cafe bar reachable on pushchair friendly flat paths and roads.

Located opposite Spring Lake is the South Cerney Outdoor Education Centre which offers sailing, canoeing, and paddle boarding activities and courses.

Bike hire, angling and even the biggest inland beach in the UK are all within a mile or two.

The house is also within walking distance to the local village of South Cerney which offers a number of local amenities including a selection of pubs, takeaways, village shops, post office and a hairdressers.
