Heywoods Cottage is an adorable and fully equipped three bedroom, three bathroom cottage located in the well-known neighbourhood of Heywoods in St. Peter.
The cottage boasts the very best of open plan living - you’ll approve of the well-equipped kitchen, the comfy sitting area and sleep like kings and queens in the air-conditioned bedrooms.
Outside, spill out onto the dining terrace, make the most of the inviting private swimming pool and garden, and lounge on the sun terrace.
Located in a very quiet residential neighbourhood, Heywoods Cottage is just moments from the Platinum West Coast. It is about a 10 minute walk (800m) to the amazing beach just by Port St. Charles. Guests can use the general clubhouse in Port St. Charles for lunch or dinner.
Historic Speightstown is about a 15-minute walk from the property where there many shops, banks, supermarkets and restaurants.
The nearest West Coast beaches, with sparkling waters and powdery white sands are an easy walk. Relax with a good book, or exert some energy with watersports.
Holetown is a 15 minute drive from the cottage, and boasts plenty of excellent boutique shops and restaurants. Nearby attractions include St Nicolas Abbey, North Point Animal Flower Cave, Farley Hill National Park, Barbados Wildlife Reserve and Andromeda Botanical Gardens.
The beach is about a 10-minute walk and you can walk to Speightstown (1 km, about 15-minutes) where there are many shops, bars and restaurants.
We do recommend renting a car for ease of transporting groceries and to fully explore the island. However, if hiring a car is not your thing, it is perfectly easy to hop on a bus at the stop, two avenues away or take a five minute stroll to Speightstown Bus Terminal for travel all over the island. The local supermarket even offers a free door to door shuttle service if you'd like a lift home with your groceries!
Mullins Bay beach, which is perfect for watersports, is 3 km (7 minutes drive) and an 8 minute drive takes you to secluded Gibbes Beach.
Holetown is a salty, colonial-era settlement around 15 minutes by car, and has a great selection of shops, bars and restaurants. Luxury lifestyle centre, Limegrove, where guests can enjoy duty free shopping and a variety of restaurants, is 18 minutes’ drive from Heywoods Cottage.
For those who enjoy a game or two of golf, the Royal Westmoreland Golf Course is a 20 minute drive.
There is an excellent selection of beach bars and restaurants within a short drive. Here are some of our tried and recommended eating spots. Please book ahead:
Little Bristol Beach Bar, Speightstown (19 min walk, 1.5km). We have only enjoyed amazing cocktails and sundowners here. Food is supposed to be good though. Great music, atmosphere, friendly staff and reasonable prices
Jumas Speightstown (20 min walk, 1.7km). A lovely restaurant overlooking the sea, with superb food and sundowners.
Fishermans Pub, Speightstown (19 min walk, 1.5km). Fabulous and affordable authentic Bajan dishes served cafeteria style in a relaxed and casual setting. Can dine on the deck with ocean views
The Fish Pot, Clinketts (20 min walk, 1.6km). Fantastic restaurant overlooking the sea. The menu is varied with an emphasis on fresh seafood.
Sea Shed Restaurant, Mullins (5 minute drive, 3.5 km). Great beach surroundings, friendly and helpful staff. The food was lovely. Good place for cocktails, lunch and dinner.
Bombas Beach Bar, Mullins (5 minute drive, 3 km). Amazing views, great food. Small portions!
The Lone Star (6 km) was once an idyllically-placed petrol station, but now it’s a stellar seafood restaurant and cocktail bar on the beach.
John Moore’s rum shack (5 km) is the locals’ hangout of choice.
La Cabane, Batts Rock Beach (20 minute drive, 15 km). True beach chic – A place to relax all day,fabulous for lunch, cocktails and dinner under the stars.
Dina’s Bar & Cafe, Bathsheba (25 minute drive, 20 km). Great restaurant to visit when exploring this side of the island. Fabulous for Sunday lunch, great views and service.
Grantley Adams International Airport is 30 km away; that’s a 40-minute drive on the island 's highways.
