Floor Plan

Whisk your loved ones away for a glorious getaway at Rosevean House.

Our detached substantial six bedroom period property is set in the thriving village of St Agnes surrounded by wonderful countryside. Believed to have been built for the Captain of the Mines, the property has been fully refurbished to provide a high standard of accommodation which is extremely flexible. Located on the North Cornwall coast, St Agnes is in a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and has World Heritage Status.

Rosevean House sleeps twelve. Very comfortably. Of the six stylish bedrooms spread over three floors, one has a super king-size bed and five have 6’ zip and link beds which can convert into 2 x 3’ single beds. Three bedrooms have en suite facilities and you’ll also find two family shower rooms, one handily placed on the ground floor for sandy toes straight off the beach.

The open plan living area includes a well equipped kitchen with a Rangemaster oven and, on arrival, you’ll find a super hamper including local produce. Right off the kitchen, the open plan dining area with a wood burning stove is the place to relax and come together over family meals. Or flip open the French doors and spill out onto the terrace, perfect for lazy al fresco breakfasts. The welcoming open plan lounge area has space for the whole family with a wood burning stove, board games and a Smart TV for quiet nights in.

On the lower ground floor, the cinema room and games room are great places to come together. Or relax on the west facing terrace, perfect for sundowners after the beach.

Outside, catch the sun in the large and beautifully landscaped garden with lawn, mature shrubs and a choice of two terraces facing south and west.

This stunning luxury holiday home is the ideal haven from which to explore the many beautiful coves and beaches which Cornwall is renowned for. There’s the bucket-and-spade joys of four beaches on the doorstep or within easy reach where you can rummage in rock pools and splash in the surf.

Head to Trevaunance Cove, a 12 minute walk away for sandcastles and surfing. Make the most of your coastal location and enjoy happy times in the waves with great teachers at Breakers Surf School. Or take to the open water on a kayak or paddle board - it’s a great way to explore the Cornish coast. The cove also has a lively pub, excellent Bistro and beach cafe. Chapel Porth Beach (owned by the National Trust and a World Heritage Site) is 1.5 miles. Two other famous North Coast Beaches, Perranporth and Porthtowan are within a ten minute drive.

A 5-8 minute potter takes you to picturesque St Agnes village which offers two small supermarkets, two greengrocers, two bakers, a butcher, (no candlestick maker!) a choice of pubs, delicious restaurants, a bistro, coffee bars, fish and chip shop and a highly regarded pizza takeaway.

Friendly St Agnes tennis club offers the options of pay and play or weekly membership.

St Agnes has a rich mining heritage and is in the heart of Poldark Country, the landscapes made famous by the novels and TV series. Today the village is well known for its thriving arts and crafts and there are a number of interesting small galleries and shops well worth a visit.

If you’re heading out and about, there’s a dizzying selection of paths and headlands to explore on the spectacular South West Coast Path. "Great house for lots of people. This is a wonderful house, well thought out and lovely furniture in main living area. Close to everything in St Agnes. A welcome pack on arrival which was a thoughtful touch. Could do with some finishing touches - a hairdryer in every room, and nicer towels given the size and elegance of the house."

2021-08-14 The Masters and Sawyer families

"Thank you for a wonderful stay in your gorgeous house! We have visited St Agnes often but haven't been down since lockdown - so it felt very special to be back enjoying time all together again in such a lovely house with everything we needed and more. Thanks for the welcome hamper - including the tasty scones, jam and butter - a great start to the hols after a big drive! We visited the Taphouse for dinner a couple of times as it is a firm favourite - great atmosphere and food as always. Takeaway pizza from St Agnes Hotel went down well, as well as breakfast croissants and pastries from the bakery (make sure you get there early to avoid disappointment!) Cakes from the bakery on Vicarage Road were a real treat too! We've really enjoyed our stay and made the most of all the space in the house - the squeals from the children playing table football and pool clearly showed how much fun they were having. Of course, we've had some fantastic days at the beach - easy to walk down with boards etc. Thanks again for a wonderful holiday - we will definitely be back!"

2021-08-04 Katie A, Perrott's Brook

"Beautiful, spacious, light and airy property. Comfortable, special and loads of space to relax when we weren't on the beach. The games room provided amazing entertainment for the kids. Helpful property manager seemed to keen to ensure our stay was good and there was a generous array of provisions waiting for us when we arrived. The property is easy walking distance of two great restaurants and a further short walk to the wonderful independent shops of St Agnes including a great deli, veg store, bakery and butchers. Definitely recommend a trip to Rustic Cakes for the best cup cakes and smoothies on the small industrial estate. The beach is within walking distance of the house - less so if yo've got lots of stuff and young kids but even though parking is busy, the turnover seems regular enough to always get a spot if you are patient. St Agnes beach hits every spot as long as the tide times are working in your favour - so make sure its low tide for most of the day. Loads of other amazing beaches and coastal walks within 30 mins and less. Local St Agnes surf school Breakers was great, as well as Global Surf over at Gwithian Beach (highly recommend a visit here)."

2021-07-10 Bridie S, Ashburton

"Beautiful spacious home in a perfect location."

2021-07-05 Ian E, Derby

"First Class From Start to Finish! Can't speak highly enough of Rosevean House, Charles and the team - our experience was first rate from beginning to end. The property is fabulous and it's difficult to imagine a better location (apart from maybe overlooking the sea). Local restaurants are great and the property is a short walk from the beach. We will return for sure ... "

2021-06-26 Davies family & friends

"We had a fantastic time in this house hanging out together for the first time since March 2020! It's a beautiful house in a lovely little town. Definitely recommend: Fish tacos at Schooners (Trevaunance Cove), waffles at the Greenroom Cafe, dinner at Taphouse (esp. espresso martinis), prawn rolls and oysters at the Deli (Churchtown), and a beautiful walk among mine ruins from Wheal Coates. Thanks for an amazing holiday."

2021-05-23 Mindy K, Shirley

"We absolutely loved our stay here. Can’t recommend it enough!! Location was in a beautiful village with a short 10minute walk to the beach and a few lovely local eateries. The property was absolutely gorgeous, it was very clean, the welcome hamper was lovely and well stocked with the essentials. There were clear instructions on how to use the different white goods, it was lovely and warm on arrival and we couldn’t be more pleased with it. The property keepers were incredibly easy to get in touch with and very responsive and helpful to all of our questions and queries. The location was excellent, very close to the A30 which enabled us to explore most of Cornwall by car! Overall, we had the most perfect experience in this property - a particular highlight was the big open plan, social kitchen/diner/lounge!!"

2020-03-28 S Archer, Harpenden

"This is a beautiful house. We felt like we were living in a Homes and Gardens magazine. Wonderfully restored and invested in, you can expect home from home comforts. Comfy beds, a great kitchen and general living spaces. Large enough for two families and still spaces to be had if you want a quiet corner. Decorated to a really high standard, this house is a pleasure to stay in. It has two garden areas getting sun at different times of the day. The pool table, table football and cinema room are also great touches for coronavirus restrictions. We want to come back again in happier times."

2020-03-28 S Archer, Harpenden (guest book)

"Thanks for your beautiful house. It's been like living in a Homes & Garden magazine. The trees are in full blossom and the skies are blue - whilst the rest of the coronavirus world falls around our ears."

LITERARY CONNECTIONS

POLDARK

Check out our blog on Poldark filming locations, all easy day trips. The closest are St Agnes Head and Wheal Coates. Church Cove, Gunwalloe, next to Dollar Cove. Other locations include: St Breward and Charlestown to the east; Porthcothan to the north; Church Cove, Gunwalloe to the south; and Botallack, Levant and Porthgwarra to the west. All the coves and beaches are quite as beautiful as they look on screen, but all are deceptive, changing from sunny, peaceful places to dreadful deathtraps for ships on a lee shore when gales howl.

ROSAMUNDE PILCHER

Rosamunde Pilcher’s name has long been synonymous for outstanding entertainment, both for her novels – which have sold over 30 million copies all over the world – and for the ZDF small-screen adaptations of her works.

In Germany, Rosamunde Pilcher is a household name, because of her position in German TV ratings for over 20 years where the ZDF films of her books are watched by around six million people. The first ZDF Pilcher movie, ‘The Day of the Storm’, was screened in 1993 to over eight million viewers, and more than 100 films have been made since.

Rosamunde Pilcher was born about 19 miles away from Rosemundy Villa in Lelant, and she says that that it all started here in Cornwall, “on the beaches, sitting on the rocks and making up little stories in my head, a long time ago.”

For more information, check out our blog on Rosamunde Pilcher filming locations.
