Make memories by the English seaside at Sunny Corner cottage. Our stunning coastal bolthole is perfectly positioned in the heart of atmospheric Port Isaac, (Doc Martin, Fishermans Friends), minutes from the harbour. The perfect place for a restful and romantic stay… think wood burners, toasty thick socks and wellies!

Our charming Grade II listed cottage, originally built by fisherman with local materials, dates from 17th Century. The owners have cleverly retained its original and beautiful character, whilst making it a unique and comfortable space. Rustic, simple, peaceful and calm, it has exposed stone walls and a picturesque sunny courtyard garden.

Our pet friendly cottage is painted white with its original simple sanded floorboards upstairs and it's original Delabole slate slab floor downstairs. Tastefully furnished and beautifully appointed throughout, the vintage inspired front room has a lovely inglenook with wood burning stove, ideal for those cosy nights in after days spent exploring the surrounding area. The pleasant kitchen dining room provides all you need to prepare home-cooked meals when you are not barbecuing on those summer evenings.

Upstairs are two beautifully appointed double bedrooms of similar size and the bathroom. The beds are made up with good hotel quality white linens, and soft white thick towels are also provided. The newly refurbished bathroom is really special, with it's Burlington freestanding bath and shower over.

If you'd like to bring your dog, please ask first - they will love the nearby cliffs and beaches as much as you do!

Perfect for winter too, this cosy two bedroom cottage is very romantic and special - a perfect retreat with heating throughout.

Sunny Corner is perfectly situated to explore the pretty village of Port Isaac, and its enviable restaurants, art galleries and independent shops. There is an excellent pub, the Golden Lion, within a two minute walk, and also several excellent restaurants to choose from, including Outlaw's New Road, The Angry Anchovy pizza, The Mote or Port Gaverne Hotel. Fresh from the Sea make delicious crab sandwiches.

One of the true Cornish treasures, Port Isaac is a beautiful fishing village nestling in a steep sided valley that remains unchanged from its days of fishing, slate export and smuggling in the previous century. Its sandy picturesque harbour is just minutes away and provides an abundance of rock pools as the tide retreats.

For outdoor enthusiasts, explore the South West Coast Path or head over to Port Gaverne for coasteering, kayaking, or wild swimming in this much loved sheltered cove.

Just a short distance by car you will find some of Cornwall’s most popular beaches including Polzeath and Tregardock for excellent surfing and Daymer Bay for those in search of calmer bathing waters.

Nearby Rock, situated on the Camel Estuary is a hub for sailing, waterskiing and stand up paddle boarding, and is also home to the foot ferry across to Padstow.

There are also several geological features in the area, including the impressive Doyden Castle and Lundy Bay. Be sure to venture too to St Enodoc Church, Trebetherick, a beautiful place of worship; and Stepper Point, a great spot for a walk or picnic. Little Petherick Creek Bridge is a pretty bridge over a creek, and the Camel Trail is a great way to explore the area on foot or by bike.

"Lovely cottage to stay! It's such a great location to enjoy Port Isaac and the surrounding coast. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay including the dog. The cottage had all amenities required, I especially enjoyed the lovely bath after a long walk. Everything was great, but do take into account that you will have to pay extra for parking."

"Absolutely beautiful, authentic fisherman's cottage, decorated to a really high and comfortable standard. The bath and shower were wonderful, really comfy bed and the appliances new and easy to use. The setting is perfect with a little suntrap courtyard and lots of other cottages around. The walk from the car park is very steep so pack light! Port Isaac is absolutely lovely and this is the ideal spot to explore it and the stunning coast surrounding."

LOCAL INFORMATION

PORT ISAAC

Port Isaac is a historic fishing village situated on the North Cornwall coastline with lovely fisherman’s cottages and narrow streets, the most famous being 'Squeezy Belly Alley', said to be the narrowest street in the world! (and a stone's throw from Sunny Corner).

Port Isaac has also been made television famous as it’s alter-ego 'Port Wenn' in the series Doc Martin – visitors can actually ascend the flower-lined hill path to take a peek at the Doctor’s Surgery, with its breath-taking views over the crystal clear waters on the surrounding coast.

While holidaying in Port Isaac you will not want to miss a performance by the bestselling folk group 'Fisherman’s Friends'. Find them down on the harbour every Friday evening through the summer months.

There is a daily fish market and two 'Nathan Outlaw' restaurants, where he holds three Michelin Stars. Make sure you dine out at the picturesque seafood restaurants (there are plenty to choose from!) and revel in the atmosphere of many lively cafes, ice cream parlours and bustling boutiques, such as Pottery and Chapel Café.

With an array of local galleries, arts and craft shops, there is plenty to see and do all year round. Other local amenities include a Doctors Surgery, a Co-operative grocery store and many lively cafes, restaurants and two fresh fish shops.

Head to the Port Quinn harbour and spend the day with Cornish Coast Adventures; enjoy a kayaking or paddle boarding tour. For more family fun filled adventures, the popular water-sports havens of Polzeath and Rock are only a short drive away.

Soak in the local history at Doyden Castle or explore your natural surroundings on the stunning walk from Port Isaac to Port Gaverne. Or spend a day relaxing at Tregardock Beach.
