Summer Holidays in East Devon

Christmas may not be quite upon us yet, but many people will have already started thinking about their summer holidays. The team at Staycation Holidays have been looking at what’s hotting up for next year’s bookings and it looks to us like a lot of people will be taking their summer holidays in Devon next year.

East Devon is the ideal venue for a UK staycation holiday. With its beautiful beaches and countryside, the up-and-coming city of Exeter and plenty of things to do, a summer holiday in East Devon is always a winner. Couple this with the increase in more people staycationing and you can see why our cottages in East Devon are going fast!

Summer Holidays in East Devon: Burrows holiday cottage

Burrows, one of our gorgeous East Devon cottages

As well as the beautiful surrounding countryside and nearby coastline, our East Devon cottages have easy access to Exeter. One of the oldest cities in the UK, Exeter has a magnificent gothic cathedral and the Royal Albert Memorial Museum, named the United Kingdom’s “Museum of the Year” by The Art Fund charity in 2012.

If you want to get a real feel for the city, we thoroughly recommend taking a Red Coat Guided Tour. There are a variety of free walking tours, each one focussing on a different aspect of Exeter’s history. It's a great way to discover the city’s sites of interest and hidden treasures.

Summer Holidays in East Devon: The coastline near Sidmouth

Devon possesses miles of beautiful coastline

Just a short drive south takes you to beautiful coastal towns and villages, such as Sidmouth – fantastic to visit when the Folk Festival (July 29 to August 5) or the Regatta (August 29 – 30) are on; picturesque Branscombe, the UK’s longest village; Beer, an unspoilt fishing village and Seaton, both of which are located on the Jurassic Coast.
