Cornwall holds great New Year’s Eve celebrations and Looe is no exception. As seems to be traditional in Cornwall, Looe welcomes the New Year in with fancy dress and fireworks on the beach at midnight.
New Year’s Eve in Looe can also be great for children, with a special fireworks display held at 6pm for those who can’t stay up too late!
The whole of the town and harbour – including the boats – are festooned with lights, making Looe even prettier than usual. It’s not just the town that has a New Year’s makeover, it’s the residents and visitors as well. Fancy dress is almost obligatory, with groups of friends (along with pub and restaurant staff) joining together in themed outfits to outdo and impress other sets of revellers. It’s this sort of dedication to the New Year’s Eve party cause that sees Looe regularly voted as one of the top ten places in the UK to usher the New Year in.
The fireworks display takes place on the Banjo pier at midnight. The best places to watch are the promenade/beach at East Looe or the eastern end of Hannafore promenade.
No matter how hard you party, you will at some point need somewhere to sleep. We have some fantastic holiday properties nearby to help you celebrate New Year’s Eve in Looe in style.
If you’re thinking of visiting Looe at New Year’s don’t hesitate and book one of these wonderful properties now!
