1 Lowther Castle & Gardens

Lowther Castle and Gardens are well and truly open for business including the Courtyard Cafe, Adventure Playground and the Exhibition. It’s advisable to book tickets beforehand and masks may be compulsory for adults in some areas.

2 Abbotts Lodge Ice Cream Farm

Abbott Lodge is a working dairy farm set in spectacular scenery of the Eden Valley midway between the Pennines and the Northern Lake District. The farm produces over 40 flavours of high quality homemade Jersey ice cream. Open: 11am - 5pm Daily Free Admission.

3 Dalemain

The Historic Gardens are once again open to the public. The team are looking forward to welcoming visitors to the gardens to see the old-fashioned roses and enjoy the tranquillity. They are serving delicious homemade takeaway food and the famous marmalade shop is open in the corner barn. The mansion will remain closed.

4 Askham Hall

Askham Hall Gardens are currently open to the public every day from 11.30 am to 8 pm. Take away wood-fired pizzas are available as well as a spacious beer hall with indoor and outdoor seating.

5 The Old Village Bakery & Upstairs

The cafe is now open 7 days a week for breakfasts, lunches, coffee and cakes. A full menu is available for eating inside or in the gardens and a take-away menu is also on offer. Booking is essential to avoid disappointment. Only a short walk from Shepherds Hall, the bakery also provides pre-booked drop off meals and pre-order breads for any guests staying at Kirkbride Hall, Melmerby Hall, Stag CottageTodd Hills Hall, Vale Croft and Gill Beck Barn. A lovely selection of gifts and cards are on display and there is also the opportunity to pop 'Upstairs' and see the beautiful clothes and homeware. 6 Threlkeld Quarry and Mining Museum

The museum is now open from Tuesday to Saturday 10am - 5 pm. Steam trains are now running on the hour from 11 am until 4 pm. There will be a limit of one 'bubble' per carriage compartment in order to maintain social distancing. The train will run with 5 carriages for passengers. The DIY tearoom will remain closed until further notice.

7 Aira Force

Marvel at the natural feat of nature where rainwater runs from the fells into Aira Beck and thunders in one 65-foot leap over the falls. Aira Force is more than an impressive waterfall however, a network of trails weaves its way from Ullswater lakeshore to Gowbarrow summit, passing towering Himalayan firs, rare red squirrels, woodland glades, picnic spots and views out across Ullswater. Car parking spaces are limited.

8 Brockhole Visitor Centre

Enjoy a great, fun family day out on the shores of Lake Windermere. Enjoy the gardens, treat yourself in the cafe, try a Treetop Trek and bounce around on the fantastic new Treetop nets.
