May is a wonderful time for families to visit south east Cornwall, with warmer weather, miles of uncrowded beaches and the landscape in full spring bloom.
 
Get out and about and explore the coastal footpath – with beautiful scenery, beaches to picnic on along the way, and traditional Cornish inns for a refreshing refuel, there is no better way to explore. Check out too the rock pool wildlife, get stuck into a good old cream tea and of course, have family fun at the wide range of events happening over the half term holiday.

Details: Frog, butterfly, fox or owl? Choose your animal tribe and enjoy the fun, adventure and outdoor play of Wild Week! Paint your face and make your tribal headdress, take up the challenge of the giant outdoor assault course and test your hunter gatherer instincts at the catapult game. Then try your hand at some wild art or chill out in a hammock by the fire and toast your own marshmallow. Yum!

Details: Have fun making things and you’ll be able to tick off some of the items on your ‘50 things’ awesome outdoor adventures list to boot. On Monday discover what’s in a pond (no 35), on Tuesday make paper from scratch, on Wednesday and Friday create some wild art (no 18), and on Thursday use rope to make and play the traditional game ‘quoits’.

3 Game On: Half term fun

Details: Play your way through half term at Eden! They’ll have a giant selection of hands-on games for all ages, from over-sized versions of some of your favourites, to the retro and traditional. Irresistible to anyone with a competitive streak! Younger ones can also explore the many play areas and hidden nooks and crannies in their outdoor gardens – perfect for hide and seek and lots of fun all round!

4 Green Man Weekend

Where: Mount Edgcumbe Country Park, Cremyll, Torpoint PL10 1HZ
When: May 28 – 29 2016
Details: The giant figure of the Green Man returns to Mount Edgcumbe as a centrepiece looming over this free event. Sitting on his throne of leaves and bark, he will be presiding over the Kernow Levy of long bow archers, a heavy horse team, 18th-century woodsmen, willow weavers, a falconer and a charcoal maker. There’s also a traditional English fair, children’s activities, beer tents, hog roasts, traders and live Cornish music.

5 Launceston Steam & Vintage Rally

When: May 28 – 30 2016
Details: Soak up the friendly atmosphere at the Launceston Steam & Vintage Rally and experience a slice of Cornish rural life. Expect to see huge steam-powered traction engines and displays of gleaming classic cars along with shire horses, traditional fairground attractions, trade stands and craft stalls. There are daily parades of vehicles, archery demonstrations and children’s entertainers too.
