Cheltenham Festival accommodation

The Cheltenham Festival takes place on 15 to 18 March 2016. It is the highlight of the British Jump racing season, with competitors racing for price money worth a combined total of £3.8 million. Over 230,000 visitors pass through the gates over the four days. If you’re thinking of becoming one of them, take a look at our cottages near Chipping Norton, offering fantastic Cheltenham Festival accommodation.

The Cheltenham Festival coincides with St Patrick’s Day, making the festival popular amongst Irish visitors. Over the four days, the Cheltenham Gold Cup, Champion Hurdle, Queen Mother Champion Chase and World Hurdle take place along with 23 other races. This makes Cheltenham one of the British racing fixtures most popular events, with hundreds of millions of pounds spent on betting.

Day tickets for the festival start at £30. The four days being Champion Day on the Tuesday featuring the most important hurdle race of the season, the Stan James Champion Hurdle. Followed by Ladies Day, including the ‘Colour Me March’ Best Dressed Lady Competition and the Betway Queen Mother Champion Chase. Then St Patrick’s Thursday including the two big races the Ladbrokes World Hurdle and the Ryanair Chase. Finally Gold Cup Day is on the Friday, when one of the biggest jump races of the season, the Cheltenham Gold Cup takes place.

With a quarter of visitors coming from London and the Home Counties and the rest (up to 10,000) coming from Ireland, much of the Cheltenham Festival accommodation gets booked quickly, but fortunately our cottages near Chipping Norton still have some availability for next year’s Festival.

Cheltenham Cottage sleeping four guests, Wychwood Cottage sleeping four guests, Shipton Cottage sleeping six guests and Saratoga Cottage sleeping two guests are all situated in the outbuildings of Bruern Abbey. Bruern is a hamlet 25 miles to the east of Cheltenham.
