”We were blessed with great weather and that served to enhance our stay. As Grandparents we occupied the pool house. This meant we had a peaceful haven at night away from the main house, but could join in the fun during the day time when family gathered around the Pool. We did do two day trips away from the house during the week, but to be honest we could just as easily stayed at the location all week, there was so much to do. The children loved the play room it felt so homely. The welcome we received from the Darby’s and the wonderful staff made the stay all the better, including the welcome pack and the too many to eat apples, plucked by ourselves from the abundant crop. We may well go again in the future. Thanks to all ”
R Wood – August 2017
”We absolutely loved our stay, it was the perfect place for us to celebrate my 40th – the accommodation inside worked really well for us, with the space for our son to be downstairs and slightly separate from everyone else as he has alarms which go off overnight. The real bonus for us was the grounds – with 8 adventurous children in tow, it was really wonderful that they could run around, climb trees, play on the tennis court, and even have a swim one afternoon. We had outside treasure hunts and inside games of sardines, we ate meals around the big table and played charades between courses, and had afternoon tea on the back lawn. It was magical.

Sarah had very kindly unpacked the shopping by the time we got there.

The booking process was easy to complete, and the understanding about the oxygen was great. I would definitely recommend Staycation Holidays to other people, but I don’t often need a large property on that scale myself (it was at the luxury end for us compared to where we would normally go as well), so I don’t think I’ll be booking with you for another 10 years (we were laughing about doing the same holiday when I’m 50).”

The Bryan family – April 2017
”We chose this property for my husband’s 70th birthday during the first week of August 2016.
The booking process was very straightforward and I spoke to Charles Millward a few times to decide on the choice of venue. He gave me very sensible advice and was always easy to contact.
We were a party of 9 adults and 5 children aged 7 and under.
The combination of the properties worked perfectly for us. The accommodation was spacious and luxurious and the quality of the furnishings, bedding, towels and toiletries was excellent. The owners left a plentiful “hamper” for us on the first day including lovely cheeses, breads, jams and cakes, which was a really nice touch and went down very well!
The beautiful big kitchen/diner was amazingly equipped with endless crockery and cutlery and there was nothing we couldn’t find; from trays, champagne glasses, to tennis balls, an amazing selection of DVDs, croquet set, endless games and puzzles for the children. The reception rooms are beautifully laid out and well appointed; the “snug” was perfect for the children to watch TV whilst we made dinner and we made especial use of the drawing room in the evenings.
The bedrooms and bathrooms were all lovely with fabulous views over the grounds.
The heated outdoor pool was a really big hit with the children and we just couldn’t get them out! It was just the right size for everyone to enjoy and a lovely temperature. The children also loved the games room with table tennis/TV; very spacious. We had a BBQ one lunchtime and made use of the outdoor furniture, BBQ and bikes.
We made 2 trips with the children locally, to the National Trust property Oxburgh Hall and also the Banham Zoo near Thetford. Both were well worth visiting and added to our experience of Norfolk.
We decided to have our main birthday event catered and Charles recommended Jake Weatherill as the local caterer who was brilliant. He also provided “drop-off” food in the other evenings so we didn’t have to do any real cooking. It was all of really high standard and delicious. Our sit-down “black-tie” birthday celebration went really well due to his organisation and culinary skills. At my request, he also suggested a professional photographer, James Robinson who lives locally and came for an hour or so to take photos of us all beforehand in the garden which was lovely. We now have so many happy memories.

We have no criticism whatsoever of the holiday and would thoroughly recommend it for a large group of people of all ages. We would love to return and are in fact trying to find a way to book again in the near future!

With many thanks”

The Moscovich family – August 2016
”Just to say what a brilliant place The Old Vicarage was and how well we were looked after by Jo and Sarah. Thank you for all your help and advice too. We were lucky with weather of course and the pool was in non stop use. All in all it exceeded our expectations and when I can think of another celebratory cause (and saved up the cash!) we will be back.”
The Harkers – July 2016
”A fantastic stay – loved the pool, games room and gardens. Our family loved the space and will hold many great memories. Even the weather could not spoil it! Thanks for a great holiday.”

A truly memorable time.”

The HWs – October 2014
”Thank you for the warm welcome and a fantastic hamper. We had a wonderful time in a wonderful home from home and could enjoy our stay even so the weather was not so good at some days. The grounds were amazing and we had lots of fun.”
The Hoffmanns – October 2014
”A really lovely weekend, three families as one family enjoying the house, garden, pool, tennis and the sun shine. I believe it was the best we’ve had altogether.”

”We had an amazing weekend – all 16 of us! The house is beautiful and we make full use of all the facilities you have here. We hope to be back again next year.”
Karen – September 2014
”Barbara and I have had a wonderful week with our family of 17 (3 children and spouses and 9 grandchildren). The accommodation was everything we dreamed of and the facilities lacked for nothing. We found it hard to leave the site but had a wonderful day at Go Ape and a morning open water swimming in the Ouse. Otherwise the pool and the tennis court were fully occupied. A perfect Golden Wedding celebration. We would love to return. PS Jake and his staff did us proud with a wonderful meal and service for a special evening.”
The LeFrenais – August 2014
”An absolutely wonderful holiday with all our family in a lovely home and location. Our grandchildren did not want to go home, nor did the adults. The family ranges from 18 months to sixty something years and there was plenty for us all to enjoy.”
The Wallaces – August 2014
”Thank you so very much for letting us stay in your beautiful home. You had thought of everything and we wanted for nothing. We especially enjoyed watching the rabbits and pheasants on the lawn each evening. There was plenty to keep everyone entertained, from the oldest and youngest. The only downside is, not of us wants to go back home….”
The Steels – August 2014
”We have just spent a week at the Vicarage & Pool House. There were 15 of us ranging from age 1 to 75 and there was ample space for all of us as well as plenty of activities on site to keep us busy from swimming to croquet, table tennis and bikes to explore the area. The facilities inside the houses were excellent and we loved the range of DVDs on offer to finish off a busy day. The house-keeper was brilliant and made sure that we had everything we needed – nothing was too much trouble. Thank you from all of us and we hope to return soon.”
July 2014
”I booked this property for my husband’s 40th birthday celebrations and it was absolutely perfect. There were 17 of us in total (12 adults, 5 children) and we all had a fantastic time. The main house is beautiful and has been furnished to a high standard, as has the pool house which is fabulous. There is masses of space both inside and out and so much to do whatever the weather – tons of DVDs, books, games and toys as well as bikes, a tennis court, football pitch and swimming pool.
We had great fun in the games room playing table tennis, went for bike rides, relaxed by the pool, not to mention lots of running round and hide and seek in the gardens with the children! A great time was had by all and we’d definitely go back!”
July 2014
”We have just returned from a week away at Vicarage House with a large party of 5 families. The main house and coach house were perfect for our group, plenty of room for all. The pool, football pitch and tennis court were all well used by young and old and we managed to fit in three birthday celebrations, a fabulous Easter egg hunt in the beautiful grounds and a mini Olympics making use of all the great facilities.
Katie and Richard have opened their wonderful home to others and have provided so much for their guests to enjoy and share.
Communication with Katie before our stay was excellent and she was very accommodating of our needs.
Location was perfect for local days out like BeWILDerwood, laser combat and High Lodge.
The beds were so comfortable and the price certainly worth paying.
An amazing week in an amazing house.”
April 2014
”Our party ranged from 11 to 80 years; the weekend simply few by. The grandchildren and energetic adults were busy playing tennis or off on cycle rides. There was plenty to do indoors either watching DVDs or playing games. We all had space for relaxing and enjoying each others company. The house is so well appointed we quickly felt “At Home” and comfort was the essence.
Everyone was happy and sad to be leaving. It was a truly memorable weekend spent in such a fantastic house. The joys of gracious living! To quote ” A lovely way to spend my 80th “
The information provided by the owners was extremely useful.”
February 2014
”My family and I (11 adults and 5 kids) spent a weekend at Vicarage House and it was not long enough. What an amazing place with so much to do. We played tennis, went on the bikes provided, swam in the pool and had a game of cricket on the lawn. There are also many walks to do nearby. If you need somewhere to go and celebrate with family or friends this is the place.”
September 2013
”I took my extended family to Vicarage House in April 2013. It is a great place for a group of people, and brilliantly well stocked with games, dvds, outdoor equipment, wii/xbox, bikes – you name it. Even in cold weather (little time outdoors sadly) it comfortably accommodated 16 and made for a memorable weekend.
Katie was also great about posting back some chidren’s clothes we left at the house gratis.”
